Bajune Tobeta

トベタ・バジュン（Bajune Tobeta）は、現代音楽、アンビエント・エレクトロニクス、ブラジル音楽、応用音響研究の交差点で活動する日本の作曲家／プロデューサー／ピアニストである。坂本龍一の音楽的遺産を継承しつつ、音が人間の情動的・生理的状態にいかに作用するかという独自の探究へと作品を展開してきた。

福岡県生まれ。ラテンバンドを率いる父のもとでクラシック音楽とラテン音楽に親しんで育ち、Yellow Magic Orchestraとの邂逅を決定的な転機として、坂本龍一の音楽を「宝箱のような究極の美」と評している。1990年代後半よりナムコ（現バンダイナムコエンターテインメント）に在籍し、『塊魂（Katamari Damacy）』シリーズに作曲・サウンドデザインで参加。同シリーズは静かながら世界中の音楽家・ゲーム音楽史研究者の間で熱心なファン層を形成してきた。同時期、ユニット nouvo nude としてコナミ『beatmania』にも楽曲を提供し、ジャンル横断的な作家活動を始動させた。

2005年、坂本龍一のJ-WAVE番組『RADIO SAKAMOTO』内オーディションに投稿したデモが坂本本人より「卒業生」として認められる。これは坂本が個人的に推薦するアーティストへの称号であった。翌2006年、坂本らが設立した東京のプロダクション「LLP 10°C」と契約アーティストとして所属。2008年にHATS UNLIMITEDより発表したアルバム『青い蝶』には坂本龍一、高橋幸宏（YMO）、大貫妙子、堀込泰行（KIRINJI）、高野寛らが参加。坂本作曲作品の編曲も担当し、東北ユースオーケストラおよびこどもの音楽再生基金大会テーマ曲「ETUDE」の編曲を行っている。

その後のソロディスコグラフィー、『African Mode』（2010、AOKI takamasa、Atom Heartらが参加）、『White Sonorant』（2011）、『TOKYO GALAXY』（2015、坂本美雨、Arto Lindsay、Nicola Conte、野宮真貴らが参加）、ベストアルバム『OPUS』（2020）、『すばらしい新世界~RELAX WORLD~』（2021、CHARA、堂珍嘉邦、Mummy-D、杉山清貴、浅香唯らが参加）は、アコースティックな親密さと電子音響の抽象性が継続的に対話する世界を描き出している。ピアノが彼のサウンドの中心にあり、繊細で和声的に問いかけ続ける旋律は、しばしば意図的に解決されず、加工された質感、フィールドレコーディング、モジュラー電子音響と対話を交わしてきた。

共演者は国際的アヴァンギャルドとブラジル音楽の系譜にまたがる。Christian Fennesz、Arto Lindsay、Jacques Morelenbaum、Paula Morelenbaum、Joyce Moreno、Nicola Conte、AOKI takamasa、Shing02らが含まれる。映画音楽では『西の魔女が死んだ』（2008）および『バオバブの記憶』（2009）を手がけている。

2026年は前例のない国際的な作品発表の年となる。6月、オーストリアの電子音楽作曲家Christian Fenneszとの初共作シングル「After the Silence」をリリース。トベタのオリジナルピアノ作品を起点に、両者が電子音響とノイズを密接に交換しながら変容させた作品である。両者はともに坂本龍一と直接の血脈を持つ。FenneszはSakamotoとアルバム『cendre』（2007）および『flumina』（2017）を共作してきた。同シングルはソロEP「Anechoic」（2026年8月14日リリース）の先行曲となる。同EPはErik Satieの『Gymnopedie』とDebussyの『Clair de lune』のピアノソロによる再解釈を、Lo-Fiインストゥルメンタルとアンビエント・エレクトロニカで織り合わせた作品である。後半にはAOKI takamasa（Raster、Stroboscopic Artefacts、PROGRESSIVE FOrM）によるリミックスを配し、最終曲はトベタ自身によるピアノ作品で締めくくられる。マスタリングはFenneszの推薦によりDenis Blackhamが担当する。2026年9月には、Sergio Mendesの遺族による正式な許諾のもと、Sergio Mendes TributeAlbumをリリース。Sergioの未亡人であり長年の音楽的伴侶であるGracinha Leporaceとの密接な対話のもとに進められている。リード曲「Mas Que Nada」の新録音は、ハンス・ジマーが主宰するロサンゼルスの名門スタジオ Remote Control Productions にて、Gracinha本人をフィーチャーして収録された。これによりトリビュート作品は、Sergioが米国でのキャリアを築いた地理に正しく位置づけられる。

レコーディング・アーティストとしての活動と並行して、トベタは2009年に設立した株式会社クロアを通じて、応用音響の領域での実践を続けてきた。彼の機能性音楽はANA、星野リゾート、Fitbit、Sony、TBS、エルメス、国連生物多様性条約（COP10 / MOP5）等に採用されている。テレビ・広告・空間音楽分野では、TBS『NEWS23』テーマ曲、Sony BRAVIA CM「太陽の色」、エルメス「L’air de Paris」J-WAVEラジオプログラム、星野リゾート「界」館内BGM、ANA機内離着陸時リラックスサウンド、J-WAVE『RENDEZ-VOUS』等を制作。2021年には第49回ITU協会日本賞奨励賞を、医療研究連携／AIとビッグデータ／国際展開を通じた機能性音楽への貢献により受賞している。

Bajune Tobeta / Entrepreneur, Producer, Lyricist, Composer, Arranger

Bajune Tobeta is a Japanese composer, producer, and pianist working at the intersection of
contemporary music, ambient electronics, Brazilian music, and applied acoustic research.
Inheriting the musical legacy of Ryuichi Sakamoto, he has developed a distinctive practice
rooted in the question of how sound shapes the emotional and physiological states of the
human body.
Born in Fukuoka Prefecture, Tobeta grew up immersed in classical and Latin music under
the guidance of his father, a Latin bandleader. His encounter with Yellow Magic Orchestra
proved a defining turning point, and he has described Sakamoto’s music as “the ultimate
beauty, like a treasure chest.” From the late 1990s he was based at Namco (now Bandai
Namco Entertainment), where he composed and designed sound for the Katamari Damacy
series — a quiet but enduring touchstone among musicians and game-music historians
worldwide. During the same period, as the duo nouvo nude, he contributed tracks to
Konami’s beatmania, launching a genre-crossing compositional practice.
In 2005, a demo Tobeta submitted to an audition on Sakamoto’s J-WAVE program RADIO
SAKAMOTO earned him personal recognition from Sakamoto as one of his “graduates” — a
designation reserved for artists Sakamoto endorsed personally. The following year he
signed with LLP 10°C, the Tokyo production company co-founded by Sakamoto. His 2008
album The Blue Butterfly (Aoi Cho, HATS UNLIMITED) featured contributions from Ryuichi
Sakamoto, Yukihiro Takahashi (YMO), Taeko Onuki, Yasuyuki Horigome (KIRINJI), and
Hiroshi Takano. He has also arranged Sakamoto’s compositions, including the theme
“ETUDE” for the Tohoku Youth Orchestra and the Children’s Music Revival Fund.
His subsequent solo discography — African Mode (2010, with AOKI takamasa, Atom Heart
and others), White Sonorant (2011), TOKYO GALAXY (2015, with Miu Sakamoto, Arto
Lindsay, Nicola Conte, Maki Nomiya and others), the best-of album OPUS (2020), and Brave
New World ~ RELAX WORLD ~ (2021, with CHARA, Yoshikuni Dochin, Mummy-D, Kiyotaka
Sugiyama, Yui Asaka and others) — charts an ongoing dialogue between acoustic intimacy
and electronic abstraction. The piano sits at the heart of his sound: delicate, harmonically
interrogative lines that often refuse resolution, conversing with processed textures, field
recordings, and modular electronics.
His collaborators span the lineages of international avant-garde and Brazilian music,
including Christian Fennesz, Arto Lindsay, Jacques Morelenbaum, Paula Morelenbaum,
Joyce Moreno, Nicola Conte, AOKI takamasa, and Shing02. His film scores include The
Witch of the West Is Dead (2008) and Memory of Baobab (2009).
2026 marks an unprecedented year of international releases. In June, Tobeta releases “After
the Silence,” his first collaborative single with Austrian electronic composer Christian
Fennesz. Built from one of Tobeta’s original piano works, the piece evolves through a close
exchange of electronic and noise textures between the two artists — both of whom share a
direct lineage to Ryuichi Sakamoto, with Fennesz having co-authored the albums cendre
(2007) and flumina (2017) with Sakamoto. The single is the lead track from the solo EP
“Anechoic” (released August 14, 2026), which weaves solo-piano reinterpretations of Erik
Satie’s Gymnopédie and Debussy’s Clair de lune with lo-fi instrumental and ambient
electronica. The latter half features a remix by AOKI takamasa (Raster, Stroboscopic
Artefacts, PROGRESSIVE FOrM), with the closing piece returning to Tobeta’s solo piano.
Mastering is handled by Denis Blackham at Fennesz’s recommendation.
In September 2026, Tobeta releases the Sergio Mendes Tribute Album with the formal
authorization of Sergio Mendes’s estate, developed in close dialogue with Gracinha
Leporace — Mendes’s widow and lifelong musical partner. The lead track, a new recording
of “Mas Que Nada,” was recorded at Remote Control Productions — the renowned Los
Angeles studio led by Hans Zimmer — featuring Leporace herself, situating the tribute in
the very geography in which Mendes built his American career.
Alongside his work as a recording artist, Tobeta has continued his applied-acoustics
practice through CROIX Co., Ltd., the company he founded in 2009. His functional music
has been adopted by ANA, Hoshino Resorts, Fitbit, Sony, TBS, Hermès, and the UN
Convention on Biological Diversity (COP10 / MOP5), among others. His broadcast,
advertising, and spatial-music credits include the theme music for TBS NEWS23, the Sony
BRAVIA campaign “Color of the Sun,” the Hermès “L’air de Paris” J-WAVE radio program, the
in-room BGM for Hoshino Resorts KAI, the take-off and landing relaxation soundscape for
ANA in-flight audio, and J-WAVE’s RENDEZ-VOUS. In 2021 he received the 49th ITU-AJ
Encouragement Award for his contributions to functional music through medical-research
partnerships, AI and big-data applications, and international expansion.
